Small Groups at Prince of Peace

are an integral way to do "one anothering" at Prince of Peace.

Change your life in just an hour a week.

Many of us can’t imagine how we’d shoehorn in just one more activity a week. We negotiate our way through hectic, demanding schedules. But what if penciling in just one more hour on your calendar could transform your life as a Christian and a member of Prince of Peace?

We think joining one of our small group studies has the ability to do just that. Our small groups offer both fellowship and a greater understanding of how we can apply God’s Word to our everyday lives. In much the way Weight Watchers meetings offer a support system for dieters, our groups provide accountability, support, encouragement, and structure for Prince of Peace members.

A recent Harris poll found that the average adult Internet user in this country spends 13 hours a week online; a Nielsen survey says the average American spends a whopping 28 hours a week watching TV. Imagine what God can do in our lives if we take just one of those hours and devote it to time in fellowship and study with our brothers and sisters here at Prince of Peace.

Got questions?
Here are some of the questions we hear often about small groups:

What do you do in a small group anyway?
Leaders guide the group through written studies designed to help us gain a greater understanding of God’s word and its meaning for our lives. Typically, the studies cover a passage or other written material, then offer questions for discussion.

What if I don’t want to talk or read aloud?
Our trained leaders are sensitive to the comfort level of each participant. We’ve found that most members become more at ease as time passes, but you’ll never be “put on the spot.”

What if I can’t come every week?
While it’s a good idea to commit to the length of the study, it’s also understandable if you have to miss a session because of travel, a doctor’s appointment or similar situations. You’ll be welcomed back the next week.

How long is my commitment?
Studies typically run six to eight weeks. Groups usually meet in the fall, winter and spring.

Single & Parenting

On Tuesday evenings beginning November 15, Pastor Sauer will be leading Single and Parenting sessions. Through the use of an instructional DVD and group sharing we will look at issues like Tired and Overwhelmed, Your Children and Your Fears, Parenting Tools and Projects, and Parenting Approaches and God’s Love.

We will meet from 7:00 – 8:30, and while we will continue for 13 sessions, we would ask that you try at least three sessions. At that point you are welcome to continue or to drop out. A registration sheet will be available at the Information Desk at the front of the church, or you may call the church office at 793-3366 to register.
