Changes for the next school year
The
process of enrollment and reenrollment continues. The SMT (School Ministry
Team), the school staff, the PTO (Parent Teachers Organization), and the Pastors
are committed to offering a quality environment for our students. Every person
involved is looking at different aspects of what is important to Prince of Peace
and its students. As you consider what is important to you, do you look for a
school with ...
ü
A well-equipped
computer center with a designated teacher?
ü
A strong academic
curriculum based on The CA Framework and Core Knowledge?
ü
A facility that
will be undergoing renovation and improvement?
ü
Credentialed,
qualified, teachers dedicated to improvement?
ü
A Christian
education that reveals to our students the wonders of God and what He has done
for them?
ü
A sports program
that provides team experience for all 5-8th graders?
ü
Extra-curricular
activities?
ü
Choirs and Hand
Bells?
ü
A daily walk with
Jesus that builds a faith foundation for life?
ü
A dedicated
Science Lab for all classes?
ü
A music program
in all grades?
ü
Art experiences
through Arts Attack and FAME?
ü
A community where
everyone is known and valued?
ü
Two full day
Kindergarten classes
ü
Small classes
where everyone is given individual attention
TRACK
MEET
The
All-Lutheran Schools Track Meet is hosted by Prince of Peace on Saturday, May 10
at Newark Memorial High School’s track. That means we need LOTS of workers!
If you
are a participant you will receive information about your events and times from
the track coaches.
We need
parents to help with events and help in the all-day snack bar. NOW is the time
to accumulate Parent Participation hours. SIGN UP in the school office TODAY!
WASHINGTON D.C. EDUCATIONAL TRIP
If you
missed the information meeting you can still get information from the school
office. Information packets outline the program information, dates, and cost.
The early bird registration deadline is June 1. Students pay the 2008 prices
for 2009 travel when you register for the 2009 program by June 1.
One of
the sites that the students will see on their trip to Washington D.C. is the
National World War II Memorial. The Memorial is one of the newest memorials on
the national Mall in Washington, D.C. In 1994, President Bill Clinton appointed
a committee to help select the location and design and raise funds for a new
World War II Monument. The design for the memorial was opened to the public with
a nationwide competition, which drew over 600 submissions. Construction began in
2001 and the memorial was opened to the public on April 29, 2004.
OPEN HOUSE
MAY 7
On
Wednesday, May 7 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. classroom will be open with the
different grades offering something for everyone to enjoy. There will be art
work on display, favorites from the third graders, Family History in the fourth
grade, and State Projects in grade five. The Science Lab will be open with
Science displays. The Jr. High will be displaying some of their power point
projects in the Computer lab. Student will be on hand to answer your questions.
Invite a
friend or neighbor to visit the school. We are proud of our school and want to
show it off!
CAN
YOU PLAY BEETHOVEN?
If so,
the FAME program has a role for you in the 6th and last lesson of
this school year on Friday, May 16. The featured compositions are Beethoven’s 5th
and 9th Symphonies and Fur Elise. Other pieces can be worked in, even
if only 30 seconds long! The students love seeing peers and parents perform, so
call FAME coordinator, Georgene Martin at 794-5237 before May 8 to plan your
appearance time/s and then, start practicing.
