NEWS FLASH

This is the last week for repairs on memory and map quizzes.

Remember that Friday is a half-day; we get out at noon.

Some parents have expressed concern about the preparedness of the class for Algebra next year. Our focus in Prealgebra has been just for that.  Although the class has not covered as much ground as planned- the material covered was the basic introductions to integers, properties, algebraic terms, equations, and fractions/factors that form the basis of Algebra.  These topics will all be covered again next year but more rapidly. A significant portion of this class has struggled with these concepts, and Mr. Glock is aware of this and will adapt accordingly.

END OF YEAR ACTIVITIES  Next week Monday, June 9,  the school will have an all-school BBQ Picnic during the day. There will be games and activities for all classes as well as lunch.  School will start at the usual time at 8 and will end at 3. Students should wear the usual uniform. Our class has been asked to provide water for this event.  Would you please send $3 with your child by Thursday and I will purchase the necessary amount.

On Tuesday, June 10, school starts at 8 and the students will turn in all their textbooks. Following this at about 10 AM, we will go to the Carraher’s for a pool party to end the year. We need both drivers AND chaperones. We will return before 3 for dismissal. Mrs. Hahn will be arranging for snacks. Pizza will be provided for lunch. Students are not required to wear uniforms this day- but should be sure to bring a towel and underwear/clothes to change out of their swimsuits for the ride home. Students should wear a modest swimsuit.

Wednesday, starts at 8 in the classroom where any book fines are paid.  Then we will hold closing chapel and the classes will be dismissed by about 10.

Please return this by Thursday along with the $3 for the picnic

Did you know:

The word posh, which denotes luxurious rooms or accommodations, originated when ticket agents in England marked the tickets of travelers going by ship to the Orient. Since there was no air conditioning in those days, it was always better to have a cabin on the shady side of the ship as it passed through the Mediterranean and Suez area.

Since the sun is in the south, those with money paid extra to get cabin's on the left, or port, traveling to the Asia, and on the right, or starboard, when returning to Europe. Hence their tickets were marked with the initials for Port Outbound Starboard Homebound, or POSH.
