What's Happening Last Newsletter: It's hard to believe that the school year is nearing its close. Before you know it, your child will be moving on to fourth grade! The childhood years seem to buzz by so quickly as we try to fit in all the activities, homework, projects, etc. Every one of the students here at Prince of Peace is blessed to have parents who love them very much and support their education. If I'm unable to see you in person, thank you for the support you have shown me this year as well. It has been a good year. Buddy Picnic: Each child should bring his/her own picnic lunch this Tuesday, June 3. Parents may bring something to share, if desired. We could use a few blankets for sitting on the grass. We’ll be doing parachute activities after we eat. All School Field Day/B.B.Q. Hot dogs, chips, and watermelon are on the menu. 3rd Grade students are to contribute a tub of store-bought potato salad on Monday, June 9. I’m looking for parents to help with the three-legged races. Each class is on their own for any desserts. Science Test on Thursday . Art Portfolio: Next week the children will bring home the art from the school year. I’m hoping it gets home in good shape and you can display some of the pieces in your home. Next Week: Tuesday we will clean out desks and clean the classroom. Be sure backpacks are emptied of extra stuff so there’s room for the supplies from the desk. You may send a paper bag in case there isn’t room for everything in the backpack. Unwanted crayons, markers, etc. can stay and get used in the classroom. Graduation is in the evening at 7:30. Wednesday is the last day. We have chapel and awards at 9:00, pass out report cards and excuse at 10:15. Summer Maintenance: It’s important to maintain skills in reading, writing, and math. I strongly suggest you create a routine that allows for this. |

School Work Memory: due Thursday, May 22 Final Memory review. Wise Saying When angry, count to 10 before you speak; if very angry, count to 100. Thomas Jefferson (Master Memory List) Learning Isn’t Done: In math we are learning to multiply double and triple digit numbers by a single digit. (Chapter 12) Then we will introduce division with remainders. In social studies, we are learning about our nations early settlements in the thirteen colonies. In science, we are learning about space. In reading we are finishing a unit on money and will start the last unit on living in the country. The whole class has made great progress with their oral reading fluency and comprehension this year!) In art, we are going to work on our imaginary paper mache’ animal. In spelling, we will finish our last unit next week, just in time. We are finishing our handwriting books. As you can see, we have much to accomplish in the next two weeks! Encourage your student to stay focused as we finish third grade strong; paying attention and working to the best of our ability. |
