Social Studies - Asia report is due Friday, June 6th.  Parent help is needed for the Asia party on June 10th.  There is a sign-up list on the window.  We still need chopsticks, Asian crackers/cookies, hot dishes such as rice or other Japanese, Chinese, or Indian dishes for the class.  You will just need to provide enough for a taste for each student.  We will be eating our regular lunches.  If you have cultural items from these countries to put on display during the party (saris, silk, character writing, kimonos, etc.) please indicate that as well.

ITBS scores are in.  If you missed the PTO meeting last week, please stop by after school to pick up your child’s scores from Miss Stein.

Parent volunteer appreciation lunch this Thursday, June 5th 11:15am - The 2nd grade would like to treat all the parent volunteers to lunch to thank them for all their hard work this year.  All parents are invited.  Please RSVP to Miss Stein by Tuesday, June 3rd if you will be able to attend on the sign-up sheet or by email.

Field Day, June 9 - 10:00-2:00  The 2nd grade needs a couple of parent volunteers to help lead a group of students from event to event.  Please sign up on the list on the window.

Camping trip - Thank you to everyone who helped in one way or another on the camping trip.  Between the banana boats and the banana slugs, the 2nd graders learned a lot, ate a lot, and had non-stop energy for activities with friends and families.  Praise God for keeping us safe and allowing everyone to enjoy His creation and have a fun weekend.

Christmas Program Memory

37Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38  This is the first and greatest commandment.

39  And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.  Matthew 22:37-39

The Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.  Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever.  Amen.

Pray Continuously   (1 Thess.5:17)

The First Commandment:  You shall have no other gods.

What does this mean?  We should fear, love, and trust in God above all other things.

The Second Commandment:  You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.

What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so that we do not curse, swear, use satanic arts, lie or deceive by His name, but call upon it in every trouble, pray, praise, and give thanks.

The Third Commandment:  Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.

What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so that we do not despise preaching and His word, but hold it sacred and gladly hear and learn it.

The Fourth Commandment: Honor your father and mother

What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so that we do not despise or anger our parents and other authorities, but honor them, serve and obey them, love and cherish them.

The Fifth Commandment:  You shall not murder

What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so that we do not hurt or harm our neighbor in his body, but help and support him in every physical need.

Review Commandments 1-5 with Meanings

The Sixth Commandment:  You shall not commit adultery

What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so that we lead a sexually pure and decent life in what we say and do, and husband and wife love and honor each other.

The Seventh Commandment:  You shall not steal

What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so that we do not take our neighbor’s money or possessions, or get them in any dishonest way, but help him to improve and protect his possessions and income.

The Eighth Commandment:  You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so that we do not tell lies about our neighbor, betray him, slander him, or hurt his reputation, but defend him, speak well of him, and explain everything in the kindest way.

Review all commandments with meanings

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.   (1 Peter 2:24)

25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; 26  and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"  (Jn.11:25-26)

Review Year to Date

The Apostles Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.  He descended into hell.  The third day He rose again from the dead.  He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty.  From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.  Amen.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.  (Ps.119:105)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.  (1 John 1:9)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  (Rom.6:23)
