School
Board/Ministry Team
Prince of Peace Lutheran School is a ministry of Prince of
Peace Lutheran Church. As such, it is overseen by a team of leaders whose
purpose is to set policy and make sure the school is fiscally and operationally
sound. They meet in July and August to set goals for the year and meet on the
first Thursday of each month at 7 PM to monitor progress toward these goals.
Parents are welcome to attend these meetings with the request that you notify
the chairperson or the Principal of your interest in attending prior to the
meeting.
Chairperson: Dan Duran
Members: Marcia Houseworth, Dennis McNulty, Hugh
Logan, Debbie Maxwell, Mark Gronert
All members of the team welcome conversation with you
regarding suggestions for improvement or observations that concern you. You
will find their telephone numbers in the School or Church Directory.
What
is a school board anyway? At Prince of Peace, the school board is called the
School Ministry Team because it is an arm of the church and helps to
meet the church’s ministry mission.
There are a total of seven ministry teams at Prince of Peace
Church, five of which are purpose directed (Outreach, Shepherding,
Community Service, Worship and Education.)
The other two ministry teams are directed at a group of people,
the youth and the school. The
School Ministry Team is a policy making body that reports to the church.
It represents the church and ensures the policies of the school
reflect the values, mission and goals of the church.
The School Ministry Team also ensures that policy is written so
the school meets legal requirements, it monitors the principal to ensure
she is carrying out the policies, and it ensures that the school has the
appropriate staff, is appropriately funded and is getting the
appropriate results according to the mission of the church.
The
School Ministry Team differentiates itself from the principal in that
the principal is responsible for ensuring that the policies of the
School Ministry Team are followed and the principal is in charge of the
day-to-day operations of the school and its staff.
