Celebrating the 5th
Sunday with Prayer, Music and Food!
The
Outreach Ministry hosted a “5th Sunday” celebration with a Barbeque and a
potluck lunch that brought together the many ethnicities of Prince of Peace
Church. Some 150 members
joined in the festivities on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
This new
activity was applauded by it’s participants, as young and old shared the
blessings of an international menu including Indian, Chinese, Italian, American,
German and Middle Eastern cuisine. Meanwhile, the choir of POP’s nascent Burmese
Ministry delighted those assembled with praise songs.
The next
5th Sunday will be December 30th!
Make a joyful noise unto
the LORD: A Concert
Driven by
a similar desire to draw together the different groups of the POP family, the
Outreach Ministry also hosted a talent show earlier this summer.
“Let
everything praise the Lord
Praise
the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament!
Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his
exceeding greatness.
Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with the lute and
harp!
Praise him with timbrel and dance; praise him with strings
and pipe!
Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud
clashing cymbals!
Let every thing that breathes praise the LORD!
(Psalm 150)
That is
exactly what the congregation did!
The
evening concert included testimonies from congregation members as well as 23
performances, including the Chinese Ministry children’s dances and adult choir.
There were also Praise hymns by the Telegu group, the men’s quartet, an
acoustic guitar duo and the
church praise band.
